Sarah has over 25 years of relationship and project management experience, primarily in the financial services sector but more recently working in a diverse role with a start-up/scale up software and consultancy firm.

Research Associate

Shelagh is an experienced leader, writer and facilitator in the not-for-profit and co-operative sector. Her focus at the David Hume Institute is on ensuring our work is informed by the widest possible range of people. Moving from journalism to in-house communications work, she joined Oxfam GB before moving to Scotland to focus on leadership development with disabled people and their families. She was Chair of the UK's only co-operative telecoms provider The Phone Co-op and a founder director of the sustainable food and farming organisation Nourish Scotland.

Director

Susan is an experienced executive and non-executive director who joined DHI in November 2019. Since May 2024 she’s been an External Advisor to the Scottish Youth Parliament. She was a founding Trustee of the ICAS Foundation, which aims to increase the diversity of young people entering the finance profession and was a Board member of NatureScot, formerly known as Scottish Natural Heritage between 2016 and 2021. Susan has studied at the University of Edinburgh, Goldsmiths College University of London, Aberdeen Business School and is a Clore Social Leadership Fellow.
